20/10/19 Brooklands

Transportfest 2019

This is a late-in-season event organised by the London Bus Museum that we don’t normally attend owing to the long journey and the dark evenings. But having not taken some of our buses out all year we decided to visit Brookland with RF433, leaving soon after 3 pm to get back in reasonable time.

The theme was AEC vehicles (of which we have many!) and both London and provincial vehicles were well represented.

A fine selection of assorted Routemasters (with a few interlopers in between!) were on display at Brooklands.

Also parked on the finishing straight were Southampton 353 (373 FCR), an AEC Regent V with East Lancs bodywork of 1963, and Maidstone & District DL39 (VKR 39), another AEC Regent V but with Park Royal bodywork, built in 1956.

Making its debut at the event was freshly restored South Notts 82 (82 SVO), which, despite wearing the Leyland name, is an Albion Lowlander LR3 with Northern Counties bodywork, dating from 1963

Three different RFs together – on the left is Country Bus RF600 (NLE 600), Green Line Coach RF26 (LYF 377) and our Central Bus RF433 (MXX 410).
